Here Come The Shadows: I started with this one because the rest of the stuff here is a little rough and i wanted to start with something produced that would make a good impression :-) No particular ideas for the sax, but you could just mess around; juicing up the choruses along the lines of what we talked about would be one possibility. The progression is basically A-E-A-D
The Receiver: This is the main one I think would be fun to join in on if you were able for Tico Time next Saturday. 3 Chords: E - D - A. This song opens the set and one idea that’s not reflected here would be for the sax to come in wailing right from the start, and then later take the second solo spot and also solo over the end.
The Gilded Age: Another 3 chord (Am, F, Em). The video starts a little ways into the song, but reflects the middle solo section where guitar and sax trade solos and that’s the main sax part. For further exploration, I included the original album version, which has a smattering of horn stabs and swells and you could play around with various of those kind of things.
No Airs: This one doesn’t have any horns but I think you could try all sort of things; wide open for messing around. Basically the whole thing is D#m to G#m, with a little A#m in the chorus.
The Ballad of Spooky Sue: Another 3 chord one good for trading off soloing. B - A - E. This version start a couple of measures in but it’s basically the whole song.
Matador Chant and Trance of Sorrow: These are two from the album that we haven’t done in the band yet, but they’re both pretty sax-heavy. Moving from three chords to one, Matador is all Bm. For Trance, the verses are E to A and the choruses are D to A.
